DO YOU WANNA BE A PART OF A VIDEO FOR GVG? In one reply, tell me your review, a hot take, or something you like/dislike about Mario & Luigi: Brothership. Curious what you all think a week after release. Also, leave a score out of 10 at the end of your post so I can average out a score from everyone!

I have to do so much work and play other games before I can play it! Why did it drop so late in the year?! Why Nintendo have cursed us with games like Mario Party Superstars: Jamboree?!
9/10, easy top three GotY material for me.
Love the art style and vibes though.
I'm sure they're worth it as a family game, but as someone who just wants to check them out by myself, priorities lie elsewhere.
But that's really my only major hiccup with the game. other then that... easy 9/10
However, the fact that Luigi does not use the B button when selection a move in battle is enough by itself to knock a point off this game. 7/10
The outlines make everything look very tacky as well
While I have minor gripes about the performance and some pacing issues, itβs such a lovely and fun successor to AlphaDreamβs legacy, with so much heart and respect for those past entries.
9/10
Some of the most creative boss battles in the series.
Dislike - Enemies are HP sponges and you fight hordes of them. Only 2 battle themes. Lacking in Bros Attack options. Loading times.
Score: 6/10, rough but solid enough game.
Iβd say about a 7.5/10 so far
Luigi's battle menu selection being on A button is so confusing and unnecessary.
The beginning of the game is extremely slow!
7.5/10 so far.
Also while I'm here, Luigi being more of a follower NPC than a playable character really sucks and genuinely upset me quite a bit, feels like the core appeal of the series has been lessened to a point, the occasional issues I've had with his AI certainly don't help
They show Mario care about Luigi. When Luigi is hurt, or in Danger, it SHOWS Mario Caring... Not just a "Oh Luigi!" like thing.. He actually runs over and gives a look of "Oh crap man.. Are you okay?!"
Except itβs mostly because I have too many games and not for hot take reasons
8/10 at roughly 19 hours in.
Changes to controlling Luigi still mess with my muscle memory,
Story's a bit cookie-cutter, but not awful,
Music and graphics are pretty good, but starting to see slowdown in late game events.
7/10
I will say I didnβt like it that you had to press A to select the menu with Luigi and attack with B, many failed combos at the start bc of it. 9/10 overall tho
- out of 10, because I can't judge the whole just yet.
Love the art style and the battle system is EXCELLENT (pun intended)
The writing is lacking the humor Iβve come to love about the series which along with the horrible pacing and padded run time, made it a disappointing return to a series Iβve loved since day 1.
8/10, wish it didn't come out a week before DQ3.
So far I'd say it's like an 8 or 9.
+ Really love the soundtrack and the increased emphasis on the brotherly relationship between Mario & Luigi
- Not a fan of how long regular encounters take to defeat
Overall currently leaning towards an 8
game's feelin' 7-8 outta 10 so far
I agree that the opening is kinda slow but I really don't think it's anywhere close to being as catastrophic as people make it out to be. 9/10.
Currently, I'd put Brothership at a 7.5.
7.5.
Pretty good.
In a certain way it's more like a demo reel for Kevin Afghani as Mario and Luigi and his Luigi's pretty on point but his Mario doesn't keep the falsetto as much and honestly I don't dislike it kinda gives the voice a bit more character.
Music is pretty solid.
Gameplay wise it basically is a very prototypical RPG coated in Mario-esque charm and like I'm confused in that we liked that when it was the remake of Super Mario RPG but now we don't becaaaaauuuuuuse...?
You can still make Luigi jump with the B button but he also jumps over gaps automatically and if you try to get Luigi to jump over gaps yourself he'll just get stuck.
Also I think when a ? Block item dissappears they use the sfx when entering a canon in Smash
The strenght of Brothership in comparation to the rest of the franchise is how level base it's structure, each island feel like their own challenge.
Just starting this game but so far itβs a 7/10 for me!
It starts slow, and youβre given new moves sparingly, but I feel like the same was true for past games? Playing this one feels familiar to a classic replay.
Clearing islands make for satisfying small victories building up to a big conclusion! 8/10
However, the load times are so long that I would have rather waited to play this on switch 2
Rating: 6/10
6/10, if it improves just a bit it will be an easy 7/10
Like so many of the complaints (mostly those relating to the pacing) aren't such issue if you treat it as a JRPG.
9/10 though! Very fun! π΄π’
Other than that and some minor nitpicky issues I have, I think the game is pretty good. 8/10
Overall still good game, but less good mario&luigi :(
However, battles are hype and the dialogue has some great one liners. Pace speeds up after the first couple hours and the slight options you have to change the story were surprising. The 500 damage desert sharks are the bane of my existence. 6.5/10 so far
The title doesn't end in "Bros." in the UK release.
Some stuff I really liked was that the presentation felt so perfect imo, the art style and animation fit the series so well and felt like a perfect transition to console for it. I also felt like the game and it's characters had so much heart and love put into them.
8.5/10
Here's my hot take. I love 2D sprites but this series feels so much better in full 3D. The way the camera moves in battle and how the boss battles take use of the 3D space. It's really great.
it cuts down on the bloat of Dream Team/Paper Jam for sure
Combat is a highlight, big fan of battle plugs
Adore the visuals and, this is my hot take, I think the OST is my favourite since Superstar Saga
Only major gripe is I wish it were funnier!
8/10
It has really fun gameplay with really nice visuals, but the game is far too padded & long. Without spoiling, it feels like there were 2 instances where the game feels like it shouldβve wrapped things up, but it keeps going.
That being said, itβs probably my 3rd favorite in the series.
Great battles, bros moves, areas, and character designs though! Amazing finale too!
As for the score, I'm nowhere near done, but from what I've played so far, I'd say it's a solid 8.5/10.
Brothership gets a 2/10. No, not the game, the title. How did they messed it up and not call it Mario & Luigi Brothership Bros.?!
Unforgivable
The entire game feels like a tutorial for a bigger RPG that doesn't start... The progression in this title is as fast as a rock.
Still think the game's a solid 8/10 though, its just got some rather prevalent issues
Also Luigi Logic it's an amazing addition to his personality. The way he cartoonishly comes up these on the fly never gets old
The game started off fine with a cool moment here and there. I haven't finished the game yet. To me, it begins to consistently feel great about 16 hours in.
