Also, there will always be differing opinions about literally everything. I actually like the IGN review. It matches up with a lot of my thoughts on the prior M&L games. If I played BrotherShip, I'd probably be bored to death by it.
True. If a game get's 8's and above across the board, that tends to be a bit concerning to me. A few negative reviews can actually elevate the positive reviews in a weird way. Makes them feel less like paid ads, if that makes sense.
I agree -- video games should never be taken seriously!
All reviews are just a matter of opinion.
The general public needs to understand that outlets are not a monolith, and they won't be a objective scoring system as each reviewer has their own opinion!
Oh wow, you just brought someone out of the Trash Nintentuber folder inside my brain.
And that folder is hidden because it only contains monstrosities lol
Other than the fact I don’t usually trust IGN, this is why review scores are garbage and diminish the value of reviews since a number isn’t representative of art
You're only saying this because you like the game. If, say, the latest CoD or w/e got a 4 you wouldn't be upset at all (unless I'm mistaken and you like CoD. Just using it as an example.)
Nah. I have always held this belief about game reviews. I do recognize there is general hypocrisy in this manner but I hold firm that review scores for games detract from reviews (and the art form) and the critique therein because they are often overlooked in favor of just a number.
Also I guess I should say I haven’t finished the game so I can’t really say I enjoy it. That is in part because the game did not run well on my system for whatever reason. I plan to actually give it a fair shake whenever I get my Switch 2. But the time I did spend in it wasn’t favorable yet.

I would be concerned if outlets told reviewers their review is wrong and won't be published.
