I’m working a pattern that begins flat, does some raglan increases, then casts on ~20 stitches to join in the round. The casting on is straight forward. - ThreadSky

I’m not understanding what you do with the extra cast on stitches (5 extra stitches in my case) that you’re using to join. Knitting a size large, second number inside the brackets. #knitting 🧶

So you cast on those extra stitches, join in the round by picking up the next side and kitting. On your next round, you knit those cast on stitches like normal. They just become part of the circle/round. Does that help?

🫠 I’ll have to check it out again when I get home later. So..I’m not doing any fancy joining like when you cast on one extra stitch, slip it to the right needle, then slip the next stitch over and off? I’m just continuously knitting in a circle? Comparing it to picking up underarm stitches helps.

You can get fancy if you want! Like if you have a preference for how to avoid gaps/strengthen the area at the join. But it doesn’t look like this pattern includes anything like that.
