So there's a real possibility that the UK's voting system and political failure by Labour & Conservatives (e.g. cutting PIPs and continuing with HS2) could put an extreme Brexiter party in power, despite a large majority viewing Brexit as a mistake, and a majority wanting to rejoin the EU.

Unelected head of state, unelected second chambre & FPTP for the main chamber.
Referendums that can change status from advisory to ´will of the people’.

This is of course why the UK is unlikely to be able to rejoin the EU before our electoral system is updated to Proportional Representation.

Other EU member states will not welcome the UK back while there is a high risk that a Brexiter Government could be elected on a minority of votes.

One potential silver lining is that there is enough cohesion for non-reform parties to go into coalition (chaotic as it would
be since it might need everyone to cooperate in a minority govt) and at least one of them doing so on the basis of changing to some PR system and doing so in that parliament.

Coalition is a sensible way forward for UK politics, no party has a monopoly of ideas, & given the state of our country it's high time parliament began working for the people, rather than imposing the ideology of a particular group.

PR is probably best, but in its absence some cooperation,please.

A remnant of divide & rule.

Coalition government has a rather poor history here.
I'm thinking in particular of the most recent one.

Regional Assemblies & a Westminster based Senate of 100 seats cannot be a worse system.

I used to enjoy the combative nature of the HoC, it was it's defining feature,especially for the firebrand MPs of yore- but its become a performative edifice, & the jeering, laughing & buffoonery is pure theatre nowadays,& nothing is achieved from any of it.
A major change is needed.
