1- #Denmark was barely mentioned during the hearing.
2- On Greenland’s sovereignty: “We must preserve the sovereignty of Greenlanders from adversary nations [especially #China, #Russia to a lesser extent] who have a long history of undermining this kind of sovereignty”.

3- Purchasing Greenland: OK, Greenlanders don’t want to sell their land. But, according to an “expert”, it’s because Greenlanders haven’t really understood “the economic benefits to the population”. Hence, something must be done in this regard.

4- China has a predatory attitude behind its Belt and Road Initiative which is extending worldwide…even in “the high North, Faeroe Islands and in Greenland”. Consequently, the influence of the CCP must be countered.

4 (continued) - “China has expressed its interest in the #Arctic region” (natural resources, shipping lanes, fleet of icebreakers). “We need to have a plan for what comes next”. The plan has a military dimension too.

5- “Greenland is good if we can get it”, but Alaska’s strategic importance should not be forgotten, especially when it comes to missile defense and minerals.
