Hitomi is lovestruck in the anime and wants to get home to Earth. Folken is a pacifist idealist who wants to end all war by becoming the dominant power on the continent.

Hitomi is suicidal in the movie and is coxed to Gaia by Folken, who is a nihilist and wants her help to destroy everything.

The OST is really the only good thing about the animation. The Manga was so much better.

Bewildering, borderline insane, and hard to follow sometimes, but so much better.
