It is newsworthy, but so would any non-consensual explicit material involving a head of state or someone with either of these jokers' high profile. I don't know if taking it down was the wrong move or not, but leaving it up could have created a dangerous precedent, no?

Update: After this article was published, Bluesky restored Kabas' post and told 404 Media the following: "This was a case of our moderators applying the policy for non-consensual AI content strictly. After re-evaluating the newsworthy context, the moderation team is reinstating those posts."

I'm not sure "newsworthy" is the only (or the most helpful) standard to use here.

Lots of things are "newsworthy" that are nevertheless ethically dubious for even a dedicated news org to publish. Much less a community platform explicitly designed to do a lot more than just news.
