I have an update on the #Joann Fabrics bankruptcy, and it is not good.

A different liquidator has won the auction, and they intend to close ALL of the stores, not just the 2/3 originally slated to close.

All stores will close by the end of May. 😞

Annoying for all who shopped there. Not sure who else has that much stock. Feels like it's the type of thing people want to see, feel and make sure it's the fabric or items they want. And most don't want to touch Hobby Lobby (I personally don't)

Hobby lobby sucks for a variety of reasons but might be the only choice locally for many. Their fabric selection is terrible as well. I hope Michael’s maybe sees a hole in the market and adapts and turns into a Joann’s in a way, I can hope.

That would be a huge gap now that Michaels could expand on. My area has both. I wasn't even sure how much fabric Hobby Lobby has. Joann's had so much.

As for choice, if people need stuff they do kind of have to go where they can get it. So many places keep shutting down.

Yeah, I don't like Hobby Lobby either, but it's the closest art store to me and ordering online is super expensive and adds up over time. There's some things I get there that I can't find in other stores nearby, and it sucks, but it is what it is. 🤷‍♂️

Not a lot of options for most when offline stores keep shutting down. Sometimes you need to get items in person and whoever is cheapest is a big factor.

Yeah for real. We also have a Michael's but it's a long drive across town and not worth the gas costs just to go there, grab one thing, and trek all the way back, when I have Hobby Lobby literally just 5 minutes down the road and easier to get to.

I don't agree with HL's views ofc, just making do 🤷‍♂️

I started making suits because Joann’s existed, it’s really sad to see this store vanish. Went today to pick up more things but it’s already really picked over.

I've been bummed because I live in-between two hobby lobbys and our nearest Joann is like 40 min away. Hobby lobby just blows. I always hoped we'd have a Joann move in closer but clearly that's not gonna happen now :(
