That's true. But the librarian at my wife's DoD school has just been ordered to remove any books that portray the US in a bad light, anything dealing with race or gender, etc. She's now got a big pile of books that have to go. This is a fascist coup. What is to be done?
The community needs to step in and challenge this action. I’m sure this order is based on the desires of a minority. Silence and lack of action will only fuel more fascist activities. What next, book burnings?
I absolutely hate it when they think we have all the room in our homes to store school stuff. I've stuffed every closest & shoved stuff under every bed. Ridiculous!

Could someone please explain to me why we have a push on libraries? I ask because my children are all adults and were introduced to the library and reading as young as 2, they ALWAYS had library cards and use them still. What happened? Every local levy for libraries passed? 🧐
Well yes I knew about the stupid book bans, in fact one of my favorite authors is on a list in Florida “Patricia Cornwell”, however that shouldn’t be enough to stop people from reading?
I was a librarian in a large secondary school. The library was not just a source of knowledge and of great literature, but was also a peaceful haven for lonely and anxious children

My mom was a librarian. My SIL is a librarian. Nearly a dozen of my friends are some form of librarian. I almost went back to school for a MLIS myself.
Do not mess with librarians. Also, keep your voice down.
Ideally, yes. But always question your sources, even if it’s a librarian. I worked in libraries for years and encountered a lot of racist, misogynist, MAGA types inside libraries too. A librarian title doesn’t automatically mean progressive.
Exactly. People seem to act like a a librarian has a PHD. These are on site trained jobs. Anyone who applies to work at the library and is hired is…a librarian. Yes, most librarians are lovely. But I’ve seen what you’re talking about too. A title doesn’t equal ethics.
My favorite part of the book, Alas, Babylon, by Pat Frank (1959), was how the local librarian took on a leadership role after Russia bombed the US.

I agree. As a library aide, my duty is to assist the Librarian with making sure we have the best material available for our diverse group of students and to never shun history.
And they don't tell you which books you must--or must not--read. Just which ones you could read, if you chose to. I've known a lot of librarians, none who wanted to be dictators.
According to Section 3 of the 14th Amendment Trump ended his second term less than 24 hours after taking the oath of office by giving aid and comfort to convicted insurrectionists. We do not currently have a president. Every action taken in Trump’s name after he issued those pardons is null and void
