When I was a kid, Levi's still had a factory in my home town. We did a tour there when I was in elementary school. It didn't appear to be all that fulfilling as a creative pursuit, and it was low paying.

There's actually a factory in that town now that builds aircraft, but with the administration pushing away our allies and with the tariffs, it will be significantly more difficult for that factory to survive.
There's also a nuclear weapons plant, but Elon fired a bunch of people who worked there.
I'd note too that a lot of Americans are still employed in manufacturing jobs, almost 13 million. Compared to October, 1955 when there were just under 16 million. It was 1979 when the US had the highest number of factory jobs at just under 20 million.
