There was a long period of time where the people in charge of comics and movies decided that trunks or 'pants' as we call them in the UK were embarassing for superheroes/superheroines.
As such, this was phased out subtly.
I am glad that in this new era the new generation are resisting this.

Out of the versions of Superman the general audience seem to know, the Starman, ultimate symbol of hope is infinitely better than the injustice “one bad day from being a fascist” version. Both reduce the character so much though

I fucking hate Zod, he’s so lame. Anything you could do with Zod is cooler with Jax-Ur (also guys like Ultraman, Bizarro or Mongul) because I think the science loving Kryptonian society having an evil scientist character is more interesting than an evil military general.

Speaking of, Superman has one of the best rogues galleries in comics and outside of the big three (Lex, Brainiac, Bizarro) the general audience doesn’t really realize that. So many of these guys just need one good story to push them into being icons

I feel like the problem with businessman lex is that they never commit to him. Smallville actually tackled clas, hierarchy and patriarchy and why lex would become evil which is something no one has really done in comics

Superboy is an essential part of the Superman mythos. The adventures of Superman when he was a boy allow him to make mistakes and live out childhood power fantasies. And after the death of his parents does he finally grow up to become Superman
