To be honest, that aspect of those stories has been around for a while, and thus such a work would fit in with quite a few other stories. Really, the basic premise of age regression is pretty much inherently disturbing to most people who are not into it. AR has a good deal of spiritual horror to it.
your old childhood toy you foumd in your mom's attic that can't bear the thought of you growing up and out of needing it, dragging you back down in age forever. Those old baby cartoon VHS tapes you saw on repeat as a kid ensuring you won't ever need to look away from youe tv again. etc
mix of both! spooky circumstances mixed with the slow, gradual, agonizing decline of one's mental faculties and the equally horridying degradation of one's memories/autonomy. bad ends like that have always fascinated me from a storytelling standpoint haha
oooh ok :3 so like a slowly corrupting force kinda horror where the protag cant do anything to fight it? feels like that can easily blend in with 'cosmic bliss' where one just accepts there is no escape and becomes willing to whatever forces are at play
