I'm not super knowledgeable, but I'd pick the RTX4 over 5 because it should be better for power consumption and legacy code/methods. It's also my understanding that 5 is pushing next-gen tech into AI stuff, so it's kinda in a weird beta testing phase. I don't think it's worth it right now.
Because I'll move to other side of the world in 1-2 years and I'll maybe move again 1-2 years after that. I already have way too much stuff so a tower would be too annoying to move and I'm afraid to break something on the way
fair enough, will you leave the laptop plugged in? as like a work station or travel with it?
if traveling I'd take the weaker one in favour of battery life, if you'll use it as a workstation, take the stronger one and see if you can upgrade cooling and clock the GPU to normal speeds
It'll be plugged in most of the time, upgrade the cooling is a good idea, I'll dig into that.
I'm still not sure if I should get an RTX 5000 since it's for a laptop. I don't know if the performance boost over a 4000 is worth the price difference.

a GPU in a laptop is utter shit
that thing is gonna be downclocked till Antarctica
