You can literally see the transformation in some temples in Egypt that were used by early Christians for worship. (Carvings in stone etc)

I'm watching Time Team, it's teaching me when the monasteries started, the saints who encouraged Christianity pushing out the pagan Celtics and Vikings. Proof again religion is just a scam to make the bishops rich. No wonder Henry VIII dissolved them. It was all about the offerings.
