Science is never “value-free”, because scientists are people too.
Arguably, climate scientists, ecologists, social scientists, etc have an ethical responsibility to contribute to public discourse on the future of our planet. We should never be “neutral” bystanders.

If objective data analysis reveals a looming catastrophe that will cause great harm, scientists must advocate for political action based on the data.
I believe we are obligated both to speak truth to power (elected officials in hearings) and speak truth to the powerless (vulnerable communities in public meetings and church basements)
