Stop letting people in this administration say they want to make changes to FEMA because it will save money/minimize disaster spending. This is not true.

we just started a 3 year Direct Technical Assistance grant with FEMA a few months ago
we busted our asses to get it and now they’ve peaced out on us
every system is failing us but on we go
we are trying to pivot to a NYS DOT resilience program but unclear to me if they rely on federal funding also
How do you propose to stop them?.
This will also be expensive.
The existence of FEMA is itself an effort in efficiency. Could it be MORE efficient? Yes! But the idea that eliminating key parts of its mission will leave us better off is deeply and truly stupid.
Supposedly they will soon share a plan for what happens to grants, training, & other components of FEMA’s work. Not holding my breath on that.
