Manufacturers won’t develop less energy efficient appliances just for the US market and they won’t want to lose acres to other markets outside the US, so in practice this probably just means the Energy Star labels will be removed in the US.

A trillion $ per year military that can’t pass an audit is the biggest place to find waste. I served 10 years and saw the waste first hand. The military budget is essentially a slush fund for congress to throw money to their own districts via mi,tar bases and defense contacts.

This is classic "less government" thinking. The US has a long tradition of having outdated standards in industries. Building codes, food standards.
Remember the war about gas stoves? Remember the talking point was democrats want to take away your appliances? This is the flip of that.

Europe is still going to require companies to develop energy efficient appliances so they still need to do the R&D work. Same deal as automotive technologies. Just means US-centric manufacturers will fall behind.
