I mean aside from my complaint that Alien³ should have been called Alienses, the initial hate for it was that people wanted more of the Aliens action movie. Alienses is actually an interesting movie and has held up well, despite the flaws (the script butchering production process &c)

I mean given you've put both Predator and Aliens and humans in the same universe, there was so so much they failed to do. DH made a solid go at it.

I have. It was a different take and made some stuff better and some worse. I think the longer version of aliens actually made the entire movie much much better. The cuts to the theatrical release left so much unexplained plot points

But while Alien³ was neither Alien or Aliens and it wasn't intended to be, I think it actually holds up as its own thing
