Happy that my district is being proactive & have 2 instructional coaches to train on apps like #MagicSchoolAI and @briskteaching.bsky.social at our school sites. They also support an initiative to give specialized coaching focused on AI to interested educators.

We have premium access to a few AI platforms district wide & trained to use it as a teaching assistant. Also encouraging its use to support the PLC process - unpacking standards, creating formative assessments, etc.

Our district i4 initiative includes over 60 K-8 educators & we have about 5-6 full-day training opportunities spread out throughout the school year along with bi-monthly individual coaching sessions. It was started last school year.

I’m actually a math teacher leader for my building. We just had an afternoon of training on AI. It was great our innovation specialist were there to assist. I will say it’s like hooking up to a fire hose at this point so much information!

Very much so! It’s super hard for schools to know where to even begin. But it’s not going away - and simply turning to sites like https://TurnitIn.com in hopes that machines can catch kids breaking rules feels both shortsighted and wildly hypocritical.

In my limited experience, it’s just a non starter, when it comes to teacher use or student use. It feels like we’re hiding from it in favor of harping on something like rigor.

I’m finding mush the same. “Don’t ask, don’t tell.” And nobody is prepared to have the hard conversations… which sets our schools back that much farther 😕

As I deliver trainings and talk to schools I’m hearing that they are either completely in the dark or are just given the does and don’t of a new policy. We value time to explore and try it out! If a teacher hasn’t been able to try it in a guided time will they feel like they can use it with kids?

Bingo. It’s a huge paradigm shift - SO many schools are committed to the “one day workshop” model, and I am often one of the folks who are asked to come in to help facilitate them.

But the research is clear. No matter how good a presenter may be, those one off one shots really don’t work.
