Many a Sam or Samantha writes an essay or has a school convo that offers their teacher and/or counselor a clue as to how conflicted they are feeling about how to talk about themselves with their parents. A gentle cushion of acceptance at school is critical for suicide prevention and finding a path.

What I found, when I was in school, is that someone who just listens; and, doesn't try and push any agenda, and speaks like a normal human, are the ones I would listen to.

I was born in '61. I knew trans and gay people when I was around 10.
What is going on now is criminal.

It's a blessing when teachers and others at school have a clue and an open heart. Any parent should want that for their child even though it is not easy at first to accept that they need that from others.
