PSA: Eye health 👁️
The grid in this image is called an Amsler grid, and it helps gauge vision loss from macular degeneration.
⚠️ I beg every one of you to check your vision with this grid periodically, even if you have no prior issues! ⚠️
Catching problems early is vital to slow permanent damage. 🧵

If any of these occur, see your eye doctor ASAP:
- abnormal discoloration
- wavy lines
- blurred/blank spot
- hole in vision
It will get worse if left untreated, even to total loss.
Age related meaning usually starting to be seen in people over the age of 50.
I was 24.
I had/have the more severe "wet" version, where blood vessels pop through the retina and leak, causing the discoloration I first noticed.
I casually mentioned it to my mom, and all of her alarm bells went off. She immediately had me see our eye doctor, which I thought
Oh how wrong I was.
If I hadn't done anything about it, I could have gone completely blind in my left eye.
I just wanted to share this with y'all, show things to be on the lookout for and when to see an eye doctor.
My mom is my hero 😭❤️
During a lapse in treatments, my blind spot had gotten the biggest it had ever been earlier this year. And it grew FAST.
I cannot describe how terrifying it was.
PLEASE monitor your vision to catch issues asap. 🫂
