Could easily cut costs if they just fully funded SPED programs and made sure admins were in compliance to the best of their ability.
As a SPED teacher myself I feel it would be far cheaper to give public schools the minimal amount they need to fulfill their mandates and hold people accountable.
Having had a kid w an IEP in NYC in hindsight the kids are usually better served by the public schools. Private schools teach to the middle. If you need accommodation or are super smart you’re better off in a public school. I’m speaking only to NYC. I pd personally for the private school
