You can turn on airplane mode and it will return for the next person when due AND you keep it till you turn airplane mode off.

I wish it worked that way for me. I had time to read that book 3 months ago. Now isn't a good time anymore and I've moved on from the precipitating reason for my interest. I'll take the book on my kindle, but find I don't get around to reading it.

Good to know. Just signed up fpr Libby due to recommendations here and every single book I requested was a 16 week wait. I expect there will be one morning where they will all become available at the same time.

I am a librarian. Many people do not understand that libraries are free. That means they won’t go until they hear otherwise. So when even sensitive folks like you refer to “renting” it supports the misapprehensions of others.

I get what you’re saying, but phrasing my guy. If people really have that misconception, I’m all for correcting the word usage. I’ve never met anyone who thought it cost money (and surely my following from my book podcasts knows), but you would know better than me.

Sad but it is true. The upshot is that library staff know this because people do find their way in and express surprise when told it is all free of charge. And when we tell them about the library of things (sewing machine, telescope, video game consoles) the reaction is lovely.
