Lalah feels deeply. Her very first words are about compassion and the fact that they are all mortal. This is noteworthy: Lalah doesn’t know about space, time, the afterlife of Newtypes… She only sees a world flawed and is not entirely at peace with it.

Her drive to follow Char is that he saved her.
Her reason to haunt Amuro in CCA is that she misses him and Char, and she egoistically wants them by her side.

Lalah’s truth is connecting (natural), but Amuro isn’t truly connected to anyone, and Char runs away from connection.

Lalah chooses to protect Char out of love, knowing that he’s not emotionally open. She’s not a wise guide, and yet it’s obvious that emotionally numb men like Amuro and Char — one because of the war, the other because of his past — would follow such a being of raw feelings.
