Public schools won’t give kids the amount of support time they need to be proficient readers - even when an OG trained professional wants to give them this support for FREE! Mind boggling!!

After 18 years as a school principal, I found the Orton-Gillingham approach to be the most effective pathway to use with kids who struggle with learning to read.
Hmm. After almost 4 decades in education, there isn’t only one way for kids to learn to read. In fact, thinking there is only one way or a best way is what has got us in the mess we’re in right now with the new iteration of the reading wars.
Not interested in any wars, but when high quality help is available and kids are in need it’s sad to not put them together. I prefer OG because it’s not a package, it’s a set of tools.
