Generalizing, with some a-priori experience: Outside of the urban areas, there are some parts north that are full-on hillbillies that even the cops don't tangle with.
Otherwise, there's also very conservative segments of the population adding influence from Abroad.

Nah, conservatism lasts since at least the 1930s, but under another name: SoCreds (Social Credit). Ernest Manning, Preston's father, was provincial PM from 1943 to 1968 in Alberta.

To confirm the agrarian roots, the province was led by the United Farmers from 1921 to 1935.
