Offering up alternatives to the ‘zon for books is good, but also don’t forget about your local library! You probably also have access to other forms of media through them as well, like ebooks via Libby.

And if they don’t have a copy of the book that you want, ask about it! You might be able to get it through interlibrary loan or failing that, they might just straight up order it for the collection.
The system I'm in lets me request up to 2 titles through Libby per month and it alerts me if my library acquires them! But talking to a librarian is generally very useful. They do have a monthly budget for purchasing, so it might not be immediate, but if they know a patron wants it, it's helpful
