2021 HPs are all cracking at the left hinge causing the display to fail. It's not the battery expanding either, just shitty build quality. They've been doing this for years and suddenly they can't make hinges anymore.
Meanwhile, mini PCs these days are literally smaller than your laptop, have all the ports you want, and manufacturers are stuffing them with ram and storage like its package filling.
god remember when a thinkpad would last for years and also anything you threw at it and now i feel like if i look at my laptop the wrong way it'll destroy itself
I'm still using the refurb Thinkpad I bought in 2017 (ship of Theseus with a new fan/heatsink, RAM & SSD but those were like $150 in parts & diy w/ a screwdriver and some youtubes). It's a tank. My BF's newer (also Lenovo) gaming laptop hinges just exploded bc he opened it one too many x's?
