the plastic frame inside literally crumbles, and shipping inevitably destroys it.

I have the NES because my parents bought it in 1989βthe year they got married π
Grandparents were all born in the late 20s/early 30s with the exception of my maternal grandma, who was born in β41

the NES was hidden away in a box though and i dug it out and that ended up being what i played way more.
