I’d suggest there’s no need to pay attention to an unrepentant Nazi whose work was basically retconning a figleaf for monsters.

If he is studied at all, it should be as a warning for opportunist like Vance.

I can see the merit of that argument but I respectfully disagree. I use him in my work as somebody who I have to rebut. So I don't say that he's right; rather I say that this is what a liberal democracy needs to ensure that he's wrong.

I can see that argument, but the experience of the last decade makes me markedly more sceptical about its effectiveness.

We are, unfortunately, not in an era where giving even a millimetre to treating those beyond the pale as being worthy of argument is delivering the happiest of results.
