I need a procedure that may make it impossible or difficult to speak. In my (almost entirely as an adult) experience with sign languages, I've noticed I have a tough time with manual language gestures, more so than oral language gestures. I'm guessing that's from a lack of exposure in early life.

Since I learn oral languages best in social settings, not sure this will work.

I know I can set up a speech profile on my phone and use that, or just use a default synthetic voice, for text to speech / live speech. But that means without tech would leave me without language, which honestly for this verbal person is a terrifying thought.

"You can just write"...
I can't. Not always, not reliably.
Have you tried writing on lose paper with a shitty pencil or a pen running out of ink when you're in a bed in an ER?
Add to that my myasthenia on top of dysgraphia and that's a hard no. It's why for written expression, I type.
So back to language. And expression.
I'm trying to prepare for possible big changes in that.
We'll see how this goes.
