As someone who has worked in corporate education, higher education, and K-12, I've seen our system from multiple perspectives. It's working as designed--to produce "1984" style, rule-followers, who are malleable and don't/can't think for themselves.
Yep. This has been a deliberate project since AT LEAST Regan if not earlier. Republicans want obedient, ignorant and impoverished serfs because they are easily controlled.
Religion plays a key role in this as well but education (lack of it specifically) is at the core.
That college indoctrinates into communism just floors me. Don’t know in what colleges that transpired but surely none I know of. If anything college indoctrinated drinking beer and rooting for your team.
“No child left behind” left an entire generation behind. Don’t hold students to a national standard. Let the states decide. They knew exactly what they were and are doing. Easier to lead the ignorant.
Authoritarianism needs an ignorant, scared, and or hateful population to take control. Keep the kids either dumb, brainwashed or both to ensure future fascist success.
It is outrageous--but completely typical of the billionaires trying to create a kind of fascistic oligarchy and bleed the US Treasury dry to buy another yacht. Education is essential for democracy, and certain billionaires want a county full of idiots.
The Musk types don't seem to realize that education is essential to their success, to the happiness of individuals as well as the progress of the country as a whole. I remember Trump saying how much he loved the uneducated. Sadly they believe him. They reject facts and truth.
They do want to keep us common folks out of certain spaces, industries and power positions. They are privileged enough that education isn't a financial burden. I have wanted to get my masters for years and the one thing always in the way, finances. High college prices=elite dominated spaces.
Education and smarts for that matter doesn't always correlate with university learning, for sure. People who enjoy learning and are self aware will grow and learn more than many college grads. However, the elite keeping us out of universities is 100% for their own gain. Power is the point.
I would say all boils down to information and how it is perceived.
Education is crucial to have critical thinking. But even the most educated can be victim of manipulation, propaganda, misinformation, deepfakes or other methods.
We need unfortunately to control the narrative and the media.
I guess Trump voters are so full of hate they don't mind destroying the US and the constitution just to own the Democrats. Because if Trump is accepted in power there will be no US no more. Probably will change the name of the country to his own and they will cheer like buffoons that they are.
Republicans started dumbing down Americans approximately 20 years ago when suddenly teachers & firemen were the devil. As a result of that, public school teachers now make a fraction that teachers did back then while needing a Master's equivalent to be able to teach. There is no upside to it now.
Education is the great equalizer. I didn't go to the right schools but I went to the right university. If we can get kids through to tertiary education then their background doesn't matter.
It’s not necessarily about higher education only. It’s about the quality of basic education. Investing in schools and teachers. Teaching kids critical thinking, empathy and good values. Stop banning books. Kick church out of the classroom.

Conservatives want believers and followers. People who don't think and who do what they are told, by man or god. And they always know a god.
Consumerism is 70% of their money....💡
That needs addressed if we want more people to have that education.
