Until I finally see nuggets of encouraging news in my media feed, beyond anecdotal, it’s been pessimism for me. And knowing Trump won the popular vote, unlike 16 and 20, doesn’t give me warm fuzzies.

I am optimistic in the sense that authoritarianism always destroys itself under the weight of its inherent corruption and contradictions to reality.

Unfortunately this is usually only after it has already destroyed everything else. So, there is that.

As an engineer I have always evaluated the worst case outcome of any situation. However, through the years I've come to learn that the worst case outcomes seldom come to pass. So I actually expect something between best & worst case.
Hopeful pessimist?
