If Americans had free healthcare, weren’t worried their child would be shot at school, weren’t struggling with two jobs to keep a roof over their heads, keep gas in the car and $6-8 eggs in their frig, they might consider having more children. Maybe fix those problems first and see what happens.
Right... In 1850, you had 7 or 8 kids in the hope that 2 or 3 would survive to adulthood. Now you have 2 or 3 kids and all of them survive to adulthood. Not the same...
We also don’t need a dozen kids to work the farm or because half have died from injury of disease. Although the GOP plans on the latter making a comeback…..
@mattwalshjourno.bsky.social has no game first convince the woman she should date you. Then convince her she should make babies with you. Then convince her you will be a good dad.
Also a hundred or more years ago, we had no vaccines, no antibiotics, and no neonatal or pediatric specialty care. People back then knew that some of their babies were unlikely to survive.
Yeah Matt and keep on the path of poor healthcare, education, and declining employment opportunities. That’s going to really inspire people to bring a loving offspring into this world. A mind is a terrible thing to waste Matt.
Part of that birth rate was people having babies because of high infant/childhood mortality rates, which decreased because of vaccines and antibiotics. Luckily, RFK Jr. is on the case to reverse that trend….
These people don't understand the math. There were millions fewer people, therefore millions fewer couples having children. Also, there was a much lower survival rate of newborns.
Now we have billions more people who are capable of reproducing and a higher survival rate. We don't need more.
Take into consideration that birth mortality rate has also decreased. Meaning, women are having fewer babies, but more of those babies are surviving into adulthood.
In 2023, Earth's population passed 8 billion. Much of that growth is in the Third World, which has never contributed to history and depends heavily on handouts from the U.S. and Europe. We don't need MORE people; we need far fewer.
I don't think any sane, self-loving woman would dare to have a baby with a republican. And, at this point, we're so remarkably NOT 💦 for damn near any man, that there really is no hope.
Considering republicans are destroying everything worthwhile, deregulating everything we need protected to keep our families safe (like clean water & air), we would be fools to try to reproduce. No. Just NO.

Oh, wait, they're the wrong colour.
So you had to have 5 births to maybe get the 2.3 kids per family.
Vaccines cause lower infant mortality rates.
So does clean air and water.
force women to give birth
outlaw birth control
deny medical care to women in a medical crisis or prenatal care,
Cut programs like:
SNAP
Medicaid and CHiP during a housing crisis
in a country that doesn't have:
equal pay
paid maternity leave
universal daycare.

1. Fund public schools
2. Pass universal healthcare
And
3. Tax the billionaires/trillionaires to pay for it
Now we have billions more people who are capable of reproducing and a higher survival rate. We don't need more.
And we've overdone that one.
