Normally I’d agree… but in this specific instance it’s a direct reply to Makima’s words from Ch 83. He didn’t have the words to counter her then so he’s doing it now. And he’s also using it as a way to tell Aging to fuck off. Sort of preempting future attempts to manipulate his emotions.
