Nokia's failure was missing the real value of apps. I don't know how people developed Java applets for flip phones, but I suspect the process involved expensive development kits, huge monthly fees, and faxing forms.

(replying to your post, have not yet read your article) - Apple Vision Pro seems similarly crazy; the trend was supposed to be VR, so they created an incredibly good VR device. But nobody *actually* wanted it.

With Apple Intelligence it's like they made every Apple device capable of being an Apple Vision Pro if we strapped it to our faces, and they tried to force us to use it that way.
