The issue is even less Indie studios are sustainable outside the studio system unless you win the algorithm lottery, and they're still nowhere near able to do union rates like studios can do.
we're starting to see the cracks quite visibly in the algorithm-driven market we've lived in for 15 years. I'm optimistic about the next 5. the hubs that made us normalize algorithms are actively burning down
The rise of large-scale indie productions has shown that creating something on the scale of TV animation is *possible* for non-corpos, but budgets aren't anywhere close. Productions get made but artists aren't paid as well, there are no benefits and for musicians, no royalties. It's not sustainable
