This might be a tough one to ponder for those of us who feel drawn toward activism within our respective fields, but is there wisdom in being rather than always doing? 🧘🏽♀️

What I've come to learn, about to turn 66, is there is a critical need for balance.
In order to maximize our ability to be present for intense, focused, consistently applied effort in things, goals, and people we are passionate about, we need being time to recharge, rejuvenate, detoxify, refresh.
No matter how much we prepare to do battle, to confront, to advocate, our empathic nurturing human nature leaves us vulnerable.
The human mind, spirit, and body, can only absorb just so much toxicity before that toxicity breaks down our psychological, spiritual and physical immune systems.
To be fair, practicing Karate properly requires one to integrate meditative experience with your katas. When one is fully present, one is more likely to execute with precision, and one is more likely to learn at a nuanced level.
So, in that, Karate is itself outward action + being.
