Find a good, supportive group. As a fellow introvert, online groups can be very good and help a lot.
Then just... play. You grow more accustomed to the players over time, and the shyness slowly fades. Let them know that you're shy, and they'll respect that.

If not, look for a better group.

#1 tip I could give is to (only) play with people you are very comfortable around! helps me a lot bc I realise I am not being judged and they actually like having me around, so I can try things out
you could also play characters who are more quiet, but idk if that helps.

Fellow introvert here, so I play online which helps as I don't have to deal with people staring at me when we play, but much like the previous posters have said write into your character that they are an introvert, I don't really play big and loud characters, but anxiety ridden characters.

Thanks a lot for your tips! I think playing online is a great thing, it will definitely take some pressure off 🧡 and we’re actually planning on playing in a discord call, because we all live in different places, but want to play regularly

That's awesome! I will say if you all live in different timezones make use of discord event tool as it will show everyone it for their time or if you are talking times there is a cool tool https://r.3v.fi/discord-timestamps/ it will show the date and time in each person's time

In my first IRL campaign I wrote into my character that he a little awkward, so while playing I already had the same mindset as the character. And as I got comfortable with the group, so did my character. Playing characters only gets easier the more you play them. Plus having a safe space is nice.
