The first thing I will say about this though, is that he's not inherently wrong about this being unappealing to players. The big draw to 5e has always been this vibes-based gameplay where the rules are more kayfabe than an actual game...
The issue is that what 5e gives itself is NOT, in fact, vibes-based gameplay, despite what a lot of people say, and that creates a disconnect from these intended goals.
I'm just generally having issues with Mike Mearls doing the rounds again. Like his actions caused harm to people and he's never issued a real apology for it.
Now we have Dungeontubers helping launder his rep by having him on to say things others already have but making out like he's a genius.
