I'm a bad artist, but I will always support others by commissioning them if I want to see a specific piece. There is no excuse to use GenAI to create art. Really sick of the extreme ignorance.

Also I don't understand how having their own AI is somehow "ethical". While they might not be stealing from other artists (though we don't know for sure), they're still damaging the environment to generate multiple images *and* charging customers for work they're not doing.

A percentage of a commission's price comes from the time you spend working on it. If you aren't actually drawing the piece, you can't charge as if you were. That's *not* ethical.

Today I drew my OC Sofia only with my mouse in Paint and it was not a humbling experience at all. It was really fun! After scanning my other art in the computer I also use my mouse for the coloration anyway. I don't have a tablet. Art is done with love for the craft. #humanart #oc #mouse #paint

Same! I just had a scanner for my traditional drawings and a mouse for digital ones. A lot of kids' first approach to digital art was the home computer's mouse (or even the school computer's if they didn't have one at home). I really don't understand what they're trying to prove here. 😅

Not to mention all the people who can make art using other kinds of software not designed for art, like Excel.

And we didn't think twice about it! Some people managed to create very intricate pieces with just that, there was no need to "democratize art" or whatever AI bros say because at the end of the day you just need your hands.

Absolutely. One of my fav artists did arts with ballpoints pen. Me and my friends (and MANY PEOPLE) drew tons and tons of fun stuff with just a mechanical pencil on cheap paper. So cry me a river...

Yes! You can draw with lots of stuff and that's what kids have done for ages (a mouse, chalk on pavement, sticks in the sand, a pencil or pen on a restaurant napkin, finger painting…). I don't understand why they think it's going to be oh so "humbling" when it's how most people started!

Seriously though! I didn't get a tablet until I graduated highschool, before that I did hundreds of fan arts with a mouse in MS Paint! Also, what world does this person live in where paper and pencils are harder to get ahold of than a computer?
