I watched a savings cap effectively kill my grandmother 15 years ago in a LCOL area-- and it was $1000 back then. Imagine how many more of our most vulnerable population is going to be destitute on a $2000 cap with 15 years of inflation and California cost of living.

"$2000 in saving or you get kicked off" is federal and has always existed as a law. "$2000 in assets" would strip anyone who owned a car or house and is a whole different ballgame. this difference is very important to the disabled and elderly i support

I’m not in California, but I don’t think people realize what that means:
When they say $2000 in savings, they mean that you’re not allowed to have more than $2000 in any bank account at any time. It’s not just in a savings account. Governments consider savings to be *anything*.

It’s ridiculous. On the one hand, people complain that those on benefits are frittering away their money, and on the other, they force us to spend it all or else we end up being thrown off the benefits we need because we “have too much”.
