The first three words of the preamble: we the people. The constitution belongs to everyone who is subject to the law. That is its promise. I don’t think anyone can argue in good faith that Trump and Musk are not violating the constitution and that impeachment and conviction are explicit remedies.

I’m not opposed to outrage. DOGE/Musk are mostly lawless. But a) this is ambiguous and b) the context is that Trump/Musk mostly lost at SCOTUS today wrt to clawing back funds appropriated and earned thru USAID. You can see in other reports that the GOP is conceding that legislation is required.

I would be careful with taking Axios' framing at face value. Seems more like Schumer is being overly cautious to keep any clips of Dems actively calling for a shutdown off TV.

This is also predicated on House Rs getting their shit together for a CR, which is a MASSIVE if at this stage.

Blocking the debt limit CR is the ONLY leverage the Dems have right now, and he's pissing it away? Instead of fearing GOP messaging, this is the time to get out in front and message that this is the only way to protect the public from Musk. Do it or step down!
