Thanks to @aclusc.bsky.social and @authorsabb.bsky.social working in SC to fight bans. The challenges have been brought by 1 parent who earlier filed 97 challenges in Beaufort County, nearly all of them denied. She's re-challenging now that a state law passed in July 2024 makes banning easy.

It's so misleading when reports say that there have been 2000 or whatever challenges in a certain school district, because most of the time those 2000 challenges are coming from fewer than 10 people, all of whom just go down lists of books they haven't read and file one complaint after the next.

The lists most often come from groups like Moms for Liberty, who (much like the federal government is doing right now) search library databases for keywords like GAY, print out the results, and share with their clique of bigots. Boom, a few days later, 2000 challenges.
