No problem when you understand the priorities of our civilisation is profit over people it's not a bug it's a feature

Landlords, actually those fucking millennial slumlords, are buying up every property they can and raising rents so they can buy up more properties. It's a sickness. They call it fair market value, but they are "designing" their own fair market value rules. It's a monopoly.
But But But
The people only earning $59k per, those people are not welcome in America, that's the problem...

So what you're saying here is the average rent in the US is $24K p.a. and the average two person household earns $118K p.a. meaning their rent is roughly 20% of their combined gross income.
$59,000????? I wish! I work in the hospitality industry and for the entirety of 2024 my total income was $36,000! Full time and worked my ass off! The kicker? I made too much for the EITC, and my federal refund was $6! My state refund was $120.
THIS IS SAD AND TRUE. WHERE I AM, I SEE SO MANY LUXURY RENTAL APARTMENT BUILDINGS BEING BUILT. WE NEED MORE AFFORDABLE HOUSING, NOT LUXURY RENTAL APARTMENTS.
They are finishing a new apartment complex down the street from where I am in the low income housing. Stupidly high price, and its like half a mile away. Building more and more nice new houses around this area, but noone that is local who grew up around here can hope to afford them
How’s the average calculated? There are many places in the country where the “average rent” is not 2K per month. Still, the unconscionable wealth disparity has been the common thread woven throughout all the problems in this country. Time to use taxes 4 wealth redistribution like before Regan!
When I started out rent or mortgage was to be 25% of monthly budget
There’s many people working full time that in a month giving entire pay can’t pay that. Capitalism destroys itself.
We’re dealing with this now in NC. Rent is through the roof and the landlord (mainly big real estate corporations) want you to have 3-4x the income vs the rent $1800-$3000 mo. and also have a 700+ credit score. If we made this, we wouldn’t be renting. It’s extremely scary and stressful.
