I do say about re-grade requests:

You may ask for a re-grade. The re-grade will be done by me. I am a much harsher grader than the TA. There's a good chance your grade will go down. As a result, re-grade requests are generally inadvisable.

I’m always happy to regrade. I just ask students to explain why the original grade was wrong. I ask them to explain: why the feedback they were given is inappropriate and to refer back to the marking scheme/ marking rubric to justify their points.
If they make valid arguments, I’ll review it.

If there's an actual objective mistake then yes.

If it's a difference of subjective opinion (which it always is for the assignment to which I'm referring), I want them to consider that it's costly to make such a request.

Also their grades are non disclosed so don't ultimately matter.

If it's a subjective assignment it's more important for me to consider a regrade. Yes it takes effort, but I'll be the first to admit I can make mistakes. But students need to be aware of the difference between, I worked hard, I deserve a good grade vs the feedback you gave is not justified.

If they want to talk content I'm happy to talk content. In actuality they almost always just want a higher grade.

They are allowed to request a regrade. But their grade can go down as a result. I think this aligns incentives.

Easy to do that with PhDs. Harder with MBAs. A rigid syllabus is protection against requests for exceptions. They see "as professor sees fit" and think "he's gonna say that that policy doesn't really apply to me, because I'm just so special"
