I doubt anyone would question protecting their children as you describe. All that's being asked is to do it legally. I have friends from Germany & Vietnam who, respectively, waited 4 & 5 years for citizenship. They showed great respect towards their new country. I deeply respect that.
Killing for your child? Heroic, brave, legendary. But crossing borders? How dare you? Risking life and limb for a better life? Outrageous! Clearly, love is measured by destroying lives, not rebuilding your own. Priorities, right?
Maybe the immigrant haters would feel differently if it was them and their family walking for thousands of miles through some of the most dangerous and challenging territory in the world. If they tried walking in their shoes they would stumble and fall.
If you claim that you would never break the law and cross the US border to try and make a better life for your kids, you're either lying or you're a lousy parent.
For every parent that does this there are countless others just using children as a pass key only to recycle those children for the next group to cross.
I had this argument with my uncle several years ago. I just don't get it. I straight up asked him what would HE have done when his kids were young if HE had been born into a destitute country. Absolutely refused to answer. My aunt got it though.

They won’t even protect them from a dangerous world.
