Those are certainly not the words I would use. There is this global rejection of expertise that Nichols talks about that has infected these people. When that woman cited a Judge Brown YouTube video as a source of news, I almost punched the wall.

When I listen to these, it's clear these people are awash in propaganda. I agree in theory with @sarahlongwell25.bsky.social that we need to communicate with these voters, but she seems to take their words at face value rather than grappling with why they repeatedly parrot right wing talking points.

Been wondering. The methods used to get these folks into a focus group. To what degree does oppositional defiance disorder come into play? Listening to them, it sure sounds like that contrarian vibe, used for attention, is quite prevalent.

Getting a group of those types together seems futile.

Oppositional Defiance Disorder is a child’s diagnosis. In adults it’s called Antisocial Personality Disorder. And yes, people drawn to Trump seem to disproportionately have personality disorders. Or at least seem to.

At what point do we need to acknowledge these folks need to fess up and own their mistaken choices in information consumption.

Why does the solution seem to be\ WE are the ones failing at messaging. When the majority of outreach we do is dismissed outright by these willingly ignorant folks.
