I watched the video and it really looks like the battery just spontaneously exploded. Having cooking gas and fireworks in the trunk is more indicative of a person planning a New Years celebration than someone who was trying to cause any damage.

2/ The only "lucky" part is that with the open bed much of the force of many of the fireworks' explosions in the bed (not the rockets that escaped) was directed upward.
