It's fewer than Spain, Sweden or Austria (no offence to them but UK used to be top).

Yeah crazy. The comparison should be with Germany & France, countries of similar size and scientific spending.

I haven't checked if this was a quirk of this scheme or more widespread. Wasn't as bad in other sciences.

I don't think that's the case... Experimentalists will continue to care about models that can be directly related to data. But maybe it depends on how we define CompNeuro vs NeuroAI...

I'd like to think so too. I see the value in classic comp neuro. But I fear the shift is real. Students interests and funders AI-excitement are two big driving forces
